Overview
The City After Midnight
Six weeks of nights with the people who work while everyone sleeps.
Night Shift City profiles five workers across one metropolitan night — a baker, an ER nurse, a bus driver, a street cleaner and a late radio host. A two-person crew shot entirely on location with available light, building trust slowly so the camera eventually disappeared.
The film screened at three documentary festivals and was acquired by a regional broadcaster.

Challenge
Filming Real Nights, Not Sets
Nothing could be staged — buses run on schedule, dough rises on its own clock. We embedded with each subject for a full working week before filming, learning their rhythm so shoot nights captured real moments instead of performances.
Approach
Small Crew, Long Lenses, Patience
Director plus cinematographer, fast primes, and no lighting beyond what the location offered. Interviews were recorded as conversations during actual breaks, which is why nobody in the film sounds like they are being interviewed.
